Cat steering clutches can be measured by measuring the
"stack heighth" of the discs .........all of them, the disc assemblies and the
steel discs combined, while they are still assembled in the clutch group.
Look closely at what you are measuring. The table below gives you
measurements of what you would expect to measure when your discs are new and the stack
heighth, minimal accepted, when you should replace the worn discs. When your clutch
is disassembled, you will often find that not all the discs are worn equally so don't
automatically assume you need to replace every disc in the clutch pack if the pack does
not "measure up." If your measurement is "miminally acceptable"
plan on rebuilding the clutch unless you just enjoy re-pulling and re-installing parts. Models New Min.
