D8 STEERING CLUTCHES
The steering clutches for the early D8 2U's used the 3B7974 bimetallic friction discs
(15 used per clutch) and the 1B9746 steel separator plates (14 used per clutch). The
steering clutches for the D8 36A and 46A's used the 7H2118 bimetallic friction discs (15
used per clutch) and the 8F4453 steel separator plates (14 used per clutch). The steering
clutches for the early D8K (66V 76V 77V) 's used the 1P6996 bimetallic friction discs (16
used per clutch) and the 8F4453 steel separator plates (15 used per clutch). If the plates
are damaged, by scoring, warping, or just plain old wear they should be replaced but you
can often reuse the steel plates. Sharp teeth on the friction discs or plates will also
